There are two types of retainers:

Fixed Retainers

These retainers are made of high quality stainless steel and are bonded to the back of your front teeth and therefore virtually invisible.

They consist of thin, flexible wires that are accurately shaped to the teeth. Fixed retainers can be fitted the same day that your braces are removed.

After a few days of wearing them most patients do not even notice that they are there anymore.

They cannot be lost and can be worn indefinitely provided you follow the simple care instructions.

Fixed retainers ususally last between 7-10 years and we guarantee them for 2 years.

Removable Retainers

Removable retainers fitted to teethThese retainers are made of soft clear plastic and are created from moulds of your teeth.

They are removed to eat, play contact sports and when cleaning your teeth.

Initially they are worn 24 hours a day for the first 3-6 months.

If not worn constantly the teeth can begin to move back to where they were before treatment started.
